Awareness of 3D printing is low in India. Many companies have simply never heard of the technology. Adoption is, consequently, limited to a minority (18%).
As a result, knowledge levels are also low in India overall – but among those who are already aware of 3D printing technology, the level is fairly high.
India is, in many ways, a market of ‘haves and have nots’ – a small minority of businesses are fairly advanced in their use of 3D printing but beyond this well-educated core the technology has only been adopted to a limited degree.
Those who have the technology are printing in plastics and polymers to a significant degree (their use of other materials is generally in line with the global averages). They are also more likely to be printing production tools and even end-use parts. However, these advanced behaviors have yet to spread beyond the core of more advanced users to wider Indian industry.
Sentiments are the start of a domino effect. Positive sentiments lead to positive behavior and investments, resulting in a future of significant and sustainable market growth.© Ultimaker 3D Printing Sentiment Index
